Enemies and Lovers | Gadreel is a jerk
Ruby knew it was a bad idea, but Sam wanted to see her. They'd spent a couple of weeks talking via Facetime, text, and telephone; it wasn't enough for either of them, but Gadreel had warned Ruby about staying away from Sam. They were both fed up with the distance; Ruby was close to the bunker (she was never as far as she pretended to be) and she needed to restock her spell bag. The bunker was the best place to do that. If Gadreel was really that opposed to seeing her, he could go have a nice, deep sleep.
Ruby parked in the garage and used her key to get into the bunker. "I'm back," she yells out. "Surprise." Because she figured it was best to take Gadreel by surprise rather than let Sam know she was going to be there.

The moment her voices carries through the bunker halls, Sam almost jumps up out of his seat. He moves toward the source. When he locks on to Ruby, the first thing he does is pull her into a hug for a good amount of time. Too long. Just as it's been too long since he's seen her in person.
Once he steps back, he smiles warmly dimple to dimple. "You make your way back all right? I was about to call you. Tell me everything about, uh- Maybe summarize where you've been."

Ruby hugs Sam with the same ferocity. She's missed him. Yes, they keep in touch; she speaks to him nearly every day (unless Gadreel takes over for the day), but being able to touch him is an entirely different kind of joy. Even when he releases her, Ruby stays close.
"I've been looking for Cas and sort of trying to figure that out," she starts then summarizes the research she's been doing as well as some of the magic. "None of the location spells and bobbles I have work, which isn't surprising, but I had hope." She reaches up to ruffle Sam's hair. "tell me what's been happening here."
no subject
He'd believe her excuses for months if it went for on that long. Cas was missing and Ruby had volunteered to find him. Gadreel does take over Sam during for a day sometimes, but as far as he's aware he's only had a few extra long naps here or there. Nothing that would raise too many alarm bells of missing time. Though sometimes he couldn't help but feel Dean gave him a weird look for no discernable reason in the middle of conversations. Ruby in close proximity again was like a piece clicking back into place.
Almost everyone was home. He didn't stray too far from her either. His hand rested around her waist to motion her to follow and sit with him some where. They needed to catch up.
"Perhaps there's something we missed here, such as a location spell or otherwise. You should stay a while and we'll look together." Of course he's gone through as much of the angel lore as possible. He's looked into if it were possible to tune how to tune into Angel radio. He's prayed to Castiel. Also, drive into any lore on fallen angels. There was never much. But maybe, he thought, just maybe there was a passage in the plethora of books left untouched that could help them find Cas. "If I know one thing about Cas it's that he'll make an appearance sooner or later."
His hair is all but static when she ruffles her fingers through it. He motions to books in the library as he leads Ruby there. "Some research. There's a lot of activity popping up on the news. Hard to distinguish if anything is monster or angel related. Dean seems to agree that most of it is nothing. I've been focused on just finding Cas, I guess. Feels strange to consider things as restful lately."

Ruby sincerely hopes that it will not go on that long. She doesn't like not being able to tell Sam the whole truth. She likes not seeing him every day even less. She does keep in touch with Dean and he's filled her in on those spaces of time lost and Gadreel appearances. On the bright side, this has definitely brought Dean and Ruby closer.
She'll follow him anywhere, especially when he puts his hand to the small of her back and guides her. They do need to catch up. Unfortunately, there's so much she wants to tell him, but can't. She'll make do with the things she can tell him. She nods at his suggestion, waning nothing more than to stay for good. Instead, she says, "it's worth looking. Maybe I'll find a lead." Researching isn't remotely how she wants to catch up, but she's aware that any intimacy could wake Gadreel and he'll have a fucking fit that will force her to leave. For now, she'll take spending time around him researching. "Hopefully sooner." She can't tell Sam why they need Cas to show up sooner rather than later no matter how much she'd like to. They need Cas so he can figure some other way to heal Sam's soul that doesn't involve the dickweed Gadreel.
She nods. "Yeah. I've been keeping an eye on things wherever I am locally, but I'm experiencing the same thing: difficulty telling what I should investigate and what I shouldn't. Most of the time I focus on Cas as well. If it seems like something that could lead to him, I check it out." Or some way that could lead to healing Sam's soul. She picks up a book and sits in one corner of the couch, leaving plenty of space for Sam to sit beside her.

Gadreel is more active than anyone would like. Sam can understand at least understand Ruby has some skin in the game with finding Cas. Angels loose all over the world is a threat to all demons.
His hand slides to the side of her waist when they get to where he was guiding her. He's all ear with what she can tell him. Often they could talk all day and still barely scratch the surface with everything there is to share. Of course he doesn't expect to hear every little detail. He looks at her with a fondness in his eye when Ruby is fine with assisting. He's not foolish enough to think everybody finds research to be refreshing all the time. Its nothing of the sort under the circumstances. "Appreciate it." Intimacy is their shared middle name. Sooner or later something, be it one glancing at the other or a tingling in their gut, something will happen. Finding Cas is very for a number of reasons then. Dean never even had as much power to stop them from being intimate as Gadreel does.
"I've tried praying to him with no answer. You think it has something to do with what happened?" More rhetorical than a question. He runs his hands along some books to decide to take one based in Latin origin about angel like beings. Perhaps there was a connection there, he thought. He opens the books and brushes against Ruby when he sits next to her. He reads for a while before his eyes graze over her being and somewhere down the line the pages open in her hand. With body language alone, he almost could ask her what she found (or didn't find).
no subject
She hopes they can still talk all day, even though she has to keep a few things from him. They can still discuss movies, research, books, and what they've been doing to occupy their hours apart. She really only has to omit details about the soul healing research she's been doing. Something always happens between them. How far they get depends on whether Gadreel is awake and paying attention. Even at his worst, Dean was unlikely to abandon Sam or burn Ruby out. Ruby isn't sure she can say the same for Gadreel, though she's beginning to suspect he needs Sam almost as much as Sam needs him right now.
"I've tried the same, not that he'd necessarily answer me in prayer, but I think he'd answer you or Dean." He'd better anyway or he'll have a face full of Ruby once she does find him. "I think something has either gone wonky with his power, or he's being held somewhere that blocks it." The other option is that he's ignoring everyone on purpose, and Ruby isn't ready to jump to that conclusion yet.
Ruby selects a book written in demon, figuring it might be the one book that Sam hasn't looked at yet. When Sam brushes up against her, she slips her boots off and pulls her feet up on the couch so she can curl against him, her head on his shoulder, her weight against him. There's so much she's missed about Sam, but this is a big one.
She catches the way he glances at the pages and at her then shakes her head a little. "Mostly about turning human souls demonic. I think the next chapter is about making demons from fallen angel souls. I'm hopeful that'll have something." At least a plausible explanation for why Cas is unreachable.

There are some reports world wide that support the chances that angels don't understand black from morally grey.
There are movies and a book or two that he could share his excitement about. There's a new novel that dropped a week ago on his bedside table that she could find. So far Gadreel hasn't kicked up a fuss, so that's always a good sign. But never not a sign to be cautious. Gadreel will be the last to share how much he needs Sam to recoup his energy or walk among people. Ruby shouldn't stop being suspicious of why Gadreel gains either. There's something that doesn't quite add up about the fallen angel choosing Sam of all people. On the flip side, there are very obvious signs that Sam is slowly recovering. There are also signs that they should be concerned with how much he sleeps or eats.
His is but half a smile. "What counts is that you tried. I know we'll find him eventually. We just have to." Unknown either of them is how right they are. His powers are completely depleted. Out there somewhere Castiel has learned how important it is to know at least one emergency number.
Sam had indeed only flipped through the contents of the demon book. It's been weeks since they sat together on the couch like this, and not thinking too deeply about it, he slips back into old habits and breathes easy with her head against his shoulder, weight against him like a security blanket. The moment clicks into place as if nothing struck him as odd the last few weeks. Maybe he hoped that Cas walked in all on his own so Ruby and him could stay this way.
He sets his book down when he's been caught and clears his throat of dryness. He could use some water after researching for a while. "That's not a comforting thought." Though they've never found out the how before, it had come to light that the likes of Azazel was formerly an angel turned demon. Hopefully Cas was safe out there. A little time passes where Sam finds a way to have Ruby lean more against his torso than his shoulder. He shares the pages in his book more readily before closing it. "You hungry? I think I'm going to grab something to eat." A pause as he realizes how little shopping he's done. "We could go out?" It'd be just the two of them unless Dean showed up. Which wouldn't be unwelcome.
no subject
Undoubtedly, if she ends up in his bedroom, she'll pick up the book and scan through it. She might even pick up her own copy so they can discuss it together. Those sign that Sam is recovering is the only thing that keeps Ruby from kicking up more of a fuss about Gadreel possessing Sam. Dean and Ruby discuss often how little Sam is eating and how much he's sleeping. The eating wouldn't bother either of them as much (after all, Cas doesn't eat) if he weren't sleeping so much.
Ruby's concern for Cas has automatically gone to a concern that Cas is being held prisoner somewhere. Maybe because she's never been rendered powerless; maybe because she didn't realize that an angel could be rendered powerless. They will find him eventually. Of course then Ruby will end up staying with Cas to help keep him safe until his powers can be returned.
Old habits are the best ones when they're like this. It would be the best thing if Cas were to walk in the bunker right now. With Cas back at full power, Gadreel could throw his fit.
"Most things demon aren't," Ruby admits. She reads a few passages to Sam as they settle into the couch a bit more and get comfortable. She can feel his heartbeat against her back and it brings tears to her eyes. This is why being separated is worth it. Sam is here and alive and safe. She can stand him not being hers for a little bit longer. A smile curves her lips. "I could go for some fries." She closes the book and sets it aside.
no subject
Ruby is more than welcome to sit with him and read it together. It never bothered him to start again from the beginning of a good book. They deserve the quiet quality time together. Sam might not know how much the crooked deal with Gadreel saved his life, but at least Dean and Ruby have something to hold onto. Understandable why they might be concerned about those two things. At some point undoubtedly the two of them will return to their room and do more than sleep for a bit.
It's an entirely plausible scenario. It's part of why Sam feels deep down that they can't relax just yet. There was a lot in need of their intentions. It wouldn't be until things calmed down again that Sam could have Ruby all to himself.
"I'll tell you a secret: you're my favorite exception." He can't see her eyes tear up from behind her but he can enjoy sharing the moments of closeness with her. The safest place in the world is the bunker. Here and now they're together. He pushes back any thought of when Ruby will decide to go search for Cas again. "Then what do you say we get up." His palms both press on her shoulders and gently nudge her to stand first. His dominant positions itself steadily out to help stabilize her once she starts. "Great. Because I... well let's just say it's hard to keep up. We need just about everything restocked in the fridge."
no subject
Sam can trust that Ruby will be cranky and pouty the entire time she's away from him. She'll be a delight (not).
His 'secret' makes Ruby smile. "All according to my evil plan," she flirts in response. Not letting him see her tear up is also according to plan. When she leaves, he'll be 'asleep' and Gadreel will likely be in residence. She'll leave him a note and tell him she'll call later then hope that Gadreel doesn't throw the note away before Sam can read it. They get up with a little help from the other, hands still entwined once they're standing. Her expression turns to concern. "Sam, you have to take care of yourself. We'll go grocery shopping after we eat." She'll also mention to Dean that he needs to do better keeping things up. She knows he's under a lot of pressure, but maybe she can take some of those pressures from him so that he can take care of Sam.
no subject
He squeezes her hand with his dimples in his smile. "You're right. We haven't been to Rosie's for a while. What do you say we head there?"
Over lunch, Sam enjoys Ruby's company more due its absence. Their entwined hands continue to flirt with one another the entire time. He makes simple conversation. Work has filled their lives for so long that he strays from anything that could remind them of it. There are a few things he opens up about and asks her opinion in looking at over the next couple days. His intention is to get her to stay a couple of days longer. It doesn't go unnoticed that she has on a new shirt. He drops a compliment naturally. His eyes smile at the story behind how she came about it. "Its flattering on you either way" He clears his throat after they've paid the bill.
"Ready, babe?" The market is across from the diner and Sam holds out his hand for them to take the simple walk. Neither of them realize they will run into Dean. Freshly baked good greet their noses as they approach the front.
no subject
They peruse the market slowly. Ruby really shouldn't, and isn't, surprised to see Dean near the pies. She points him out to Sam as they approach. "Hey Shortbus."
Dean looks up, surprised for only a moment before smiling in that dorky way he has. "I remembered we were out of pie." Ruby rolls her eyes. "Lucky for you, Sam remembered we were out of everything."
no subject
He has the impression Ruby holds Rosie's as a favorite in her heart too. There's always been something about the restaurant that reminds him of the one Ruby popped into after they helped each other out with the demon enbodiment of Pride. Neither of them ever had to mention this fact to know that's what it was about the place that kept them returning as regulars. The waitress was also a friendly face. Sam always tipped her well as the service was always friendly, never too much, nor the bare minimum. Even when he doesn't recognize a few of the titles she mentions, he takes interest about what Ruby has to say about them. He expresses interest in reading a couple of them later. Hearing about her day-to-day is what keeps him feeling closer to her, never really seeing that he missed out on what she's been up to. In so many ways, it would feel like someone cut off a piece of themselves if they had to let go without confirming it with their other half first. It's important that nobody interrupt them.
Another good thing about their waitress is that she knows to skip them when going around the tables asking about refills. Sam makes it a point to say again that the shirt looks good on her. If they're ever together in the area she picked it up from, he would like to check it out with her. He threw in a light joke about how he couldn't wear flannel forever.
Slow was one of the nice things about spending the evening Ruby. Other members of their group would skip over some of the booths with little interest. Jack, for example, would be more enthusiastic about the candied apples than the actual apples. Sam wasn't really thinking about everyone, only Ruby, of whom his eyes kept turning to every so often as they walked. She was the first to notice Dean. Sam's gaze had to turn away from the opposite direction where the smell of fresh bread wafted from.
He squeezed Ruby's hand as reminder to drop the name calling, at least. Though a part of him wants to face palm too. "Ruby isn't wrong. But I think she should have said is that we need to fill the fridge with more than pie." He looks around them. "Just you?"
no subject
What Sam doesn't realize is that Ruby is aware their time together is limited. Eventually, Gadreel will wake up and throw a temper tantrum at her presence. She's basking in every moment she gets with him.
Ruby squeezes Sam's hand in return. Dean looks around when Sam asks if it's just him, confusion on his face before he looks back at Sam. "You feeling alright, Sammy? Who else would be with me?" There's concern in his voice and in his expression.
"We're fine. Just getting a few things for the bunker," Ruby is quick to fill in.
no subject
"That would be a welcome change of pace." Not just finding Cas, but being able to live life in its simplest form. She could put him in however many tee shirts she liked during this shopping trip.
What neither of them realize is Gadreel had been watching them since they left the bunker. The Angel couldn't describe what he was feeling. Maybe it was disgust for every time the love birds held hands. Maybe it was a raw annoyance that his ground rules weren't being respected. He endured only because his disgust of the demon had won out. That alone would be temporary.
Temporary, it was. Dean's presence changed everything. Dean made his complaint with the situation easier to address.
Before Sam could answer, his eyes flashed blue. Gadreel was aware Sam's slip up was of his own devising. He had to be sure there weren't more people to consider. The squeeze Sam gave to Ruby a moment ago fell away. The Angel felt it somehow appropriate to wipe that hand against the denim pants. He straightened his posture.
"Your brother will be fine. I've healed this body a little more since last we spoke, but not by much... You seem to have a hard time with your end of the bargain though."
He looked at Dean with a tight lipped expression. He did not acknowledge Ruby.
no subject
Ruby is only now beginning to suspect that for some reason, Gadreel needs Sam as much as Sam needs him, but she's not prepared to rock the boat too much based on that suspicion. She's confused for a half a second when Sam drops her hand then she realizes that Gadreel has surfaced. She takes an annoyed step away from him, eyes flashing black before they flicker back to green.
"Dude, remember that whole free will thing? Yeah, Sam's got that and there's only so much I can do to make him follow your rules. Ruby and I are working on it," Dean says, eyes ticking to Ruby for a moment before he looks back at Gadreel. "You don't like it? Heal faster. Eventually, Sam is going to figure out something is going on and I promise, he'll evit your ass faster than you can blink if he does whether you're done healing him or not."
no subject
The feeling is mutual. Sensing Ruby's flash of disasastifcation to his presence, Gadreel takes another step forward. Had he not been aware that Sam would see a larger discrepancy if he moved anymore than that, he would have considered returning Dean and himself to the bunker. Ruby would have been left standing there. Had he not been playing the role of Ezekiel, an angel held in high regard in lore, he would have worn his disdain for Ruby twofold. He barely holds back as it is.
"I am aware of free will. That's besides the point. Sam isn't the problem. Your demon friend isn't doing her part in keeping our deal. How, might I ask, are you working on it?" His expression does little to hide his dissatisfaction when Dean tells him to heal faster. Honor for his side of the deal is something he holds in high regard. "It might be my fault for not informing you that I feel the magic that hurt him in the first place is older than myself; however, I get the feeling you knew. Whatever the case maybe... This is no simple matter. I can only tell you that the process is more than two-thirds if not more complete. I've noticed your brother eats more.... all unusual flavors that didn't exist the last time I visited Earth. Is that not satisfactory? You figure out how to keep him from discovering I exist for the time being. In truth, I can afford to find another body to finish. I choose not to." There's more to why he'd prefer not to. Gadreel will remain tight lipped to why, though.
no subject
"Seriously? I'm not fucking his brains out right now. I'm doing my part," Ruby responds. Dean winces, looking between Ruby and Gadreel. "If Ruby disappears, it negatively affects Sam. He gets moody, mopey, and stops eating or sleeping. Trust me, neither of us want to deal with emo Sam. You don't want to spend all your time making sure Sam doesn't run off to see his girlfriend, right? Ruby is here to placate Sam for a little while. She'll leave soon enough." Dean looks to Ruby to iterate this. Ruby rolls her eyes and pouts, but nods a little.
no subject
For a split second his lips deepen into a full on frown, seeing that Ruby steps closer in his direction. Gadreel raises his hand between them to stop her from coming any closer. A warning he would make good of if she pushed his boundary more. Somehow Dean's mutual joy in the matter irked him as well. He needed to remind himself of the mutual benefit in being an angelic pacemaker to Sam, which was his strong body hit to house even an archangel.
The crude manner in which Ruby describes the human act of sex does her no favors. But it does make it harder for Gadreel to ignore her. "For which, I am glad. How he touches the likes of you, the very idea makes my skin crawl. The deal was that we keep it that way." His attention flickers over her then back to Dean. He considers what the elder Winchester brother tells him only as there's a proposed limit to the time Ruby will be around. "No, I do not. I needn't remind you that she poses a threat as a beckon for demons and angels alike to notice the energy signature coming from both of us in this area." He answers Dean's question. Ruby's nod in agreement to being around for a little while longer helps placate him. "How much longer? 12 hours. 24 hours. The sooner she leaves, the less risk there will be."
The angel waits for some indication that they both understood his warning and complaint, found in the shared glances between them, before he returns to his hibernation. Without missing a beat, Sam is back. He turns his head opposite to the direction he recalls. Further up, is all the fresh fruit and vegetables he'd buy on a weekly basis, scattered between booths of flowers, honey, and fresh dairy products. Almost instantly, his fingers twitch in search of Ruby's hand and he notices hers dropped from his. His eyes turned back in search of where she had gone.
"I mean... Don't you think you should eat an apple every so often? Without all the sugar and gluten." Picking up where he left of with Dean. Sorry for the whiplash.
no subject
She's not trying to garner favor; she knows that the angel isn't going to 'like' her regardless. She might as well get what little joy she can from irking him. "Trust me, I don't want you spying on us either." Dean massages the bridge of his nose at Ezekial's warning. Honestly, he's pretty sure that the angel is embellishing the whole beacon thing. "Haven't you heard? Other demons are fucking terrified of me, Zeke," Ruby says smugly. Yes, they know she's here, but they're also not willing to risk death. "I assume that you can handle the other angels." As to the question of her trip, Ruby shrugs a little. "I'll try to wrap things up here," she answers despite the angel talking to Dean, not her.
It's very whiplash-y the way Sam comes back, but Ruby is happy to see him. She reaches out to take his hand once again. Dean recovers a moment later. "An apple is still an apple, Sammy. Even if you dip it in delicious sugar and cinnamon." However, he moves to add apples to the cart to placate Sam.
no subject
Eventually, Sam is going to also realize that Ruby's absence affects him more than he can reasonable describe. He's never had a home that worked out in the past. Dean's instance that the bunker is a home is something he's become somewhat resistant to. He'll figure out that family is key. Ruby's absences is key to changing how he views the bunker.
If not for Sam, and the amount of questions he'd have, Zeke wouldn't put up with Ruby's antics. He absolutely clues in that she's doing it on purpose. "Do we have an understanding or not? You needs to go. I can not keep using my powers as it resets any progress I make in healing Sam." It is entirely possible that he is embellishing how much they are a beacon together, but he is being truthful that he would rather not risk it. "Perhaps you've become full of yourself. What of the demon Abaddon that you have on your tail?" That's one concern he has. Despite him talking to Dean, in this instance, he does fully acknowledge her. Without being in Sam's head, he's heard the whispers of the boy king. It's safe to deduce that Sam could be a target. "See to it that you don't raise any suspicion either. I may understand it, but there are strong feelings about your absence."
No one should have to deal with a third wheel in the midst of their time alone. Dean is the exception. Zeke is not. Sam's fingers twine between hers comfortably, casting a smile in her direction. He gives her an affectionate squeeze. A small part of him does feel the discrepancy in her hand and his must be due to his light headedness. He makes a note to monitor his symptoms. "Do you even hear yourself? It's hardly an apple anymore if it's case of diabetes waiting to happen." He sees Dean making some compromise and gestures the apple his brother has in his hand. "The least you can do is make your own pie with half as much sugar. In fact, you could use honey."
no subject
"Abaddon is on my radar," she assures Gadreel with her usual confidence. "And do I have to remind you, I wasn't at the bunker when she became a problem." As for going, she will (at least this time). She wants Sam healed as quickly as possible, and she doubts the beacon they present, but she'll play nice for now. Ruby worries about Sam being a target and not being there to protect him. She sighs at Gadreel's warning. "What do you think I'm doing here now? Sam is smart, stubborn, and he loves me. If I disappear, he'll only come looking for me."
Ruby squeezes Sam's hand in return. Her biggest fear in all of this is that she'll lose Sam because he will think that her feelings for him have changed. Dean snorts a little at Sam's comment, but he will make an effort. He makes a finger gun at Sam. "I'll put learning to make pie on my to do list." He actually means that. The idea of learning to make his own pie is very appealing. As for half the sugar or honey, he'll take it into consideration.
"Come on, Sam. Let's finish shopping so we can go home," Ruby says, tugging him toward the deli section.
no subject
Sam does also have some questions that he hasn't yet been able to voice; they're primarily around if Ruby feels welcome at the bunker or not. Worse yet, he might fear that she doesn't want to be there.
Abaddon is one concern that they all have. Ruby was definitely not there when she became a problem. That's one thing Sam will assume Dean told her, if it comes up again. There's no further reply from Zeke as Sam returns to consciousness. She's not wrong about Sam coming to look for her if she's gone too long though.
If he ever looked at her differently, it wouldn't be him. She might not be able to see it but he feels better for the time they've had so far. Sam lifts his chin up to gauge Dean's commitment but cracks a smile. "I'll trust you to get the apples and I'll get the honey." It's the only way he sees Dean trying out honey instead of sugar. Dean's interest in making his own pie is pretty clear otherwise.
Ruby needn't ask twice. "See you later" He tells Dean. His arm extends to allow Ruby to lead the way to the deli section. He smiles at her. "Dinner?" He guesses. In that case, they could get a steak for once. He still considered everything today as part of a long overdue date.
no subject
"I'll get the apples," Dean agrees. He glances between Sam and Ruby, "I'll drop them off at the bunker and go grab a beer." He's trying to give Ruby and Sam some time alone. He looks more pointedly at Ruby. "You've got my number if you need me."
Ruby considers the idea of dinner. "Why don't you let me make it? I don't know how to make many things, but I can do a few dishes. How do you feel about Polish food?"
no subject
Obviously the assumption that he wanted to move in was made in error. He shall correct that soon enough.
"See you when you're back from the bar then." It doesn't strike Sam as odd that Dean would want to give the two of them space. His brother isn't subtle at all about how Ruby has his number. That strikes him as weird. "That was weird. Don't tell me you two are up to something. It's not exactly my birthday next week." He asks Ruby.
The burden of cooking often falls to Sam when he wants to eat well. Lately, that's been the case because something in his system feels sluggish at times. He smiles at Ruby's offer, growing into the idea. "Well, I enjoy trying new things so count me in. What do we need? You can consider me your sous chef tonight." He'll absolutely let her cook but the two of them together could make the shared preparation part of their date. He'll also happily watch if she insists he sit too.
no subject
"Don't wait up, Sammy," Dean says as he walks away. The truth is that he's unlikely to be out very late considering the circumstances, but he's trying to uphold some illusion of normal. Ruby lifts one shoulder in a shrug. "I think he's being overly protective with Cas missing and Abbadon afoot," she suggests. "He knows I've got a spidey sense when it comes to both demons and angels." She thinks it's fairly plausible for thinking on her feet.
"We've got to loop back for potatoes and hit up the baking aisle. Grab some sausage," Ruby says, meandering off on the ingredients, but she's still compiling a list in her head. She smiles at his offer. "I hope you like chopping potatoes," she jokes. She'll definitely let him help. It'll be fun making up the dough and mixing all the ingredients for pirogis together.
