Going to the chapel

Ruby wasn't sure this day would ever arrive. Somehow, it seems as if time has rushed past as well. In any case, when morning dawns, she's worried that things aren't ready; that the wedding will be a disaster. She's grateful beyond words that she and Sam chose to ignore the tradition of spending the night before the wedding apart. It's comforting to have him wake up next to her because it reminds her that even if everything goes wrong and it is a disaster, she'll end the day married to Sam.
After some canoodling and some breakfast, the two part ways so that they can get ready for the event. Ruby spends most of the morning being primped and painted by Lucy. She tells Lucy more than once that she's pretty sure Sam doesn't care if her toe nail polish matches her nail polish, but Lucy dismisses the complaints with a smile. There are a few things that Ruby is firm on: her hair being one of them. She wants to wear it down in long, loose curls. Of course, Lucy complains that Ruby wears it that way every day and Ruby responds that's because it's Sam's favorite. Lucy can't argue much with that.
The bunker's yard has been transformed into a romantic venue with flowers, tulle, mason jar lights, food, and alcohol. Most of the guests are already at the bunker with the exception of Donna and everyone pitches in to make sure everything is running smoothly.
Teh day will go flawlessly, and if it doesn't, Ruby and Sam will still believe it went flawlessly.

feel the only icon with his eyes closed is the most appropriate
For the first time in weeks nothing feels like it can go wrong due to the support they have and the planning that's gone into it. For at least a little while he chooses to support her comfort by staying with her in bed until there's a distinctive pound at their door. The time to get ready has come. Sam leaves her with a kiss to her temple and on her lips.
Their routines are a vast contrast as Sam's consists of putting on his suit with Dean to assist with the bow. The rest of the time is sitting or standing, trying not to wrinkle any part of his attire. Pacing while he waits is somewhat of a risk. There's some conversation with Dean but it's more along the lines of backing out if he has had a change of heart. His response is a firm "I love Ruby, and I wouldn't be doing this if I wasn't sure, Dean." What's next is up to Dean. There is a lot of truth to Ruby's hair in ringlets being his favorite of her styles. Any style her hair was in would be the most beautiful today of all days though. Lucy is a smart woman by all means. Surely Ruby trusts her for everything else, right? Sam is guaranteed to be stunned.
Absolutely this day will be perfect in their eyes no matter how it goes.
The two of them need a quiet moment before the wedding proceedings; somehow they both just know and communicate through their best people. Sam has a blindfold on when he's led into the room and they wait to be alone, door closing softly is his indication of when they are. He knows exactly where Ruby's shoulder would stand and brushes her shoulders. Best he can figure is that there isn't any makeup to ruin by doing this.
I think you're right
For the first time, Ruby is thinking about eloping just because she's afraid of what could go wrong. Isn't there an objection portion of this ceremony? (There's not; they've taken that out). Most mornings, they'd tell Dean to mind his own business and they'll be out when they're ready. Today is different. They're on a schedule today. Dean has bacon for Sam and toast and fruit even.
Dean feels like his duty as a big brother is to make sure that Sam knows there's a way out if that's what he wants. "Yeah. I know," he responds, "I just needed you to know that it's not too late to back out if that's what you want." It's not a bad offer: open road, music, and the Impala. Dan honestly did not expect Sam to take that offer, because he knows (everyone can see) that Sam loves Ruby. He knows that this is what his little brother has wanted for a while.
Ruby trusts Lucy as much as she trusts anyone that isn't Sam. She's very certain about the way she wants to look and Lucy's suggestions of a little more glitter are met with firm looks. Red lipstick, hair down, a little mascara, and not much else. She doesn't want a lot of jewelry because she doesn't think that the dress needs it. She's got a strand of blush pink pearls around her neck that were borrowed from Lucy, an embroidered handkerchief from Mary that her mother embroidered and her garter is a dark blue. Her heels are very high because Sam is very tall.
Ruby is behind the bathroom door when Sam is in. She peeks out to make sure he is wearing a blindfold and smirks when she sees he is. She slips out from behind the door barefoot and pads to stand in front of him. That smirk grows into a smile when he brushes her shoulders. She steps closer and lays her cheek against his chest to hear his heartbeat better. "Hey, Handsome. I just needed to see you."
Re: I think you're right
To be fair, they've already offered everybody more than multiple chances to state their peace. At this point if they have objections, they've been subtly asked to not attend. True that most mornings Dean would go ignored unless he got overly annoying. The breakfast is appreciated and Dean receives an initial wave as if to ask that he did this followed a thank you. Sam starts with the fruit but finishes the bacon before it goes cold. They're on a schedule but there's no rush to eat. They can talk while they're at it.
It's not really Dean's duty as an older brother, but it's possible that's just the feeling Sam feels about this particular matter. He's very sure Ruby is the right one. "I know you know," he agrees, "I'd take you up on that if there were problems." They don't speak about Becky but that's the only thing that comes to mind. And love potions. He's not trapped in any shape or form and the look in his eye suggests they drop it there. Nothing and no one could make him wait for Ruby at the end of the aisle if he didn't want to.
Ruby and Sam seem to be down to earth about how they look on their day. But a little red lipstick, the hair, and the faintest amount of mascara is hardly subtle in highlighting her features. If beautiful is what Sam thinks of her on a daily basis then stunning is what she is looking like that. Lucy may get pulled aside for Sam to thank her later. Lucy and Mary pitching in with something borrowed and something new hasn't gone unnoticed or appreciated by him on Ruby's behalf. It just shows that they accept Ruby as family. Heels are helpful, but today they will be a lot of swooping her up in his arms or kneeling her level for pictures.
It's a smart move for her to stay behind the bathroom door as it means Dean won't see her before Sam does either. Smart. She can trust that Sam wouldn't break the one promise to each other about seeing the dress though. His eyes are shut for good measure too; everything is dark and he can only trust what he can hear and touch. He can almost picture the smile that grows on her lips when she approaches him and he takes a deep breath in with a blissful exhale in exchange. His hands move gently to cup her head against his chest. "I'm glad you did. I forgot to hold you like this for the last time as my girlfriend. I know I can't see you right now, but you're beautiful." He won't mention that it's an emotional disadvantage.

Dean grunts his acknowledgment of Sam's gratitude for breakfast and pours them both some coffee. Ruby wanders through to grab a cup of coffee with extra cream in it and a couple of pieces of bacon. Lucy arrives with lattes for everyone, which she passes out before she corrals Ruby into the bedroom to get her ready.
Dean just nods. He likes Ruby; she's family as long as she doesn't hurt Sam, but there's still a part of him that wishes Sam had fallen in love with a normal girl to have a normal life where he grew old with kids a passel of kids at his side. He's come to accept that that's not the future Sam wants and as long as it makes Sam happy, he's okay with that.
Ruby rarely wears more makeup than that and she definitely doesn't want with of them to look like someone they're not today of all days. It had taken a while, but Ruby really is part of the family at this point. Ruby will very rarely complain about being swept up in Sam's arms and she definitely won't complain today. At some point, the heels might be abandoned.
That's an extra bonus, though she hadn't thought much about it. In that case, he knows that the dress leaves her shoulders bare. She laughs softly at his comment about holding her as his girlfriend. "I knew w should have ignored Dean a little longer this morning, but then my toes might not be painted and that would be a wedding tragedy, apparently." She lifts her head and looks up to him, leaning in to press a soft kiss against his lips. "I can s you and you are very handsome."

Ruby never had to watch over him so he could sleep and he would have continued to pace outside during those sleepless nights if it had not been for her. He was thankful back then for what she did. Similarly, had they parted last night, he would have paced around the bunker and likely ran into her anyway. They both can agree the trouble in keeping apart is not worth it.
The rest of breakfast is fairly uneventful save for when Sam tires of the bacon and wants no more to do with it. He pushes the plate to the center of the table, the typical sign
Deananyone can have it. Ruby wandering through never goes unnoticed. Sam acknowledges her before Lucy steals her away. There have been some hints here or there that Sam may want to adopt a child with Ruby. Sometimes without meaning to, he looked up how the way it works in Itinere without watching his six. But most times he's been relatively private about it with Ruby. Though the future he'd decided was most important was the one starting with Ruby wherever it led.
Whatever or how much she is most comfortable wearing is what will make her stand out in his eyes. What she wants is the most important thing. Some of the Winchesters would not admit it easily, but she has wormed her way into their hearts. There seems to be not a lot that either of them would complain about today. She can count on borrowing his height by being on his toes and in his arms when the heels get kicked aside.
It's not his intention to cheat his promise, but it definitely does not escape his notice that the dress must be strapless. Ruby often wears his shirts with rolled up cuffs that the only thing he can draw from his conclusion of the dress is that, whatever it is, it'll be stunning on her. Maybe a part of him just misses the morning they didn't get to spend together, too. Maybe it's his desire that time move faster so they can be together again. There here now though and he takes a deep breath in as if to drink in her laughter. "We did ignore Dean for a while," he reminds her and nods to agree, sensing her intent and leaning to meet her half way. "I did it only for you. But, never mind me. Tell me how beautiful you feel. I don't doubt the dress is...your perfect dress."
no subject
Sorry, Sam, but neither Ruby nor Dan can understand how a person gets 'tired' of bacon. That being said, Dean will definitely take what's left of Sam's plate when he pushes it away. He splashes a little bit of whiskey from his flask into his third cup of coffee and leans back in his chair to watch Sam (Dean notices how Sam notices when Ruby walks in. Ruby notices it as well and winks at Sam). Ruby presses a quick kiss to Sam's temple and ruffles her hand through his hair as Lucy steals her away, insisting they have got to get started if she's going to be ready by the time the wedding starts. Lucy is ready sans dress. She'd gotten up early to prepare. Lucy is wearing (for once) shorts and a tee shirt when she arrives to sweep Ruby back into the bedroom.
Ruby is fairly certain she's like that very resistant type of black mold. She grows on you (if she cares to stick around long enough to grow on anyone). She doesn't mind that she's not everyone's cup of tea. She's Sam's cup of tea and that's enough for her. She'll probably wear the heels through their first dance, but after that, she'll stand on his feet and not mind at all when he picks her up.
The tradition says he can't see her in her dress; it says nothing about feeling or presuming. They don't have long now. In fact, Ruby is fairly certain that someone will be knocking on the door within the half-hour or so to nudge them all into place. "Hmmm, not long enough," she says with a pout that's audible in her voice. She bites her bottom lip, pulling back to look at him, one hand creeping to his tie to fiddle with it while she talks to him. "I feel like a little like a very fancy turkey trussed up for Thanksgiving," she admits with a laugh. "I had to make Lucy put down the hairspray, but...the dress is kind of...magic. I think I'm reserving judgment on how I feel until you see me." She leans in to press a kiss against his lips and whisper, her mouth still against his, "I think you're going to lose it when you see me."

There is such a thing as too many nitrates; guess he is the only one mindful of that. By all means the rest is Dean's but Sam rubs his hand across his forehead, not saying anything about his brother's eating habits. The third coffee with whiskey is a bit much though. He gets that they're all rightfully nervous of the big event just hours away (his brows lift, eyes brighten when Ruby winks at him, smile pulling at the corners, but Dean's look quells it when his eyes catch the attention on him). Ruby is gone as quickly as she entered, but he blows a kiss before the chance escapes him. Lucy is not giving anything away by being in regular clothing at least.
She's more like moss that grows in the cracks of older homes and becomes part of the charm. As far as Sam's concerned, she's a piece of home he can't live without. It's her choice when to ditch the heels. Either way, the first dance is about them.
Wouldn't it also be cheating if he ran his hands over the dress? The lines are blurry so he won't dare to ask. No, it won't be long at all if he knows his brother. They won't have a half-hour. Her pouty voice is the easiest thing to picture in his mind when he hears it. For what it's worth, his hand rests on her above his tie and he projects his nervousness yet calm to her. It doesn't matter how little time they have now because they will have all the time in the world later is how he feels; a fraction of that should pass to her. "Tell me about it," he chuckles. "Dean almost choked me while doing my tie. I can't wait...to see what kind of magic you're wearing." He presses his lips back into hers, gently but neither softly. Her teasing him with being so close when she speaks is just as effective. "Honestly, I'm having a hard time right now."
no subject
Winchesters are very codependent. Ruby likes it that way and Dean wouldn't have things any other way.
Yep. He's the only one who thinks of things like that. Dean would be happy with death by bacon. Dont be grumpy, Sam. Dean has cut back drinking but he needs a little kick today. His baby brother is getting married. Ruby sees that look and the kiss. They both make her smile a little. She's nervous about the wedding, but not about marrying Sam. The incident with Astaroth taught her that it didn't matter if she tried to hide how she felt about Sam by not marrying him; he wasn't safe and she couldn't leave him, even for his own good. They might as well live the life they wanted and deal with the danger as it came.
She can handle being moss. More importantly, she can handle being home to Sam. He's certainly become that and more to her.
She doesn't think so, but she won't push it either if he wants to keep his hands on her shoulders or gained with her hands. Good, she's trying to be particularly expressive with her tons of voice since he's blindfolded. she can hear the nervous patter if his heart, but its not racing in any way that worries her. Its only a little different than it usually is when she's near. "I'm not sure what Shortbus has to be nervous about. He just has to stand up there with you." She loosens his tie just a little. "better?" The more comfortable he is, the more relaxed he'll be and that'll rub off on Ruby. His words tease a wicked, soft laugh from her lips. She leans closer, body pressed against his as her lips brush his ear, "not yet, but you're getting there." Her voice is a wicked purr against his ear.

It would fall on deaf ears to tell Dean not to eat so much bacon. As for Ruby, there's a lot of things he is sure doesn't affect demons the same way as humans. No appears grumpy. The least he can do is make sure Dean keeps a clear head by making sure that little whiskey coffee doesn't become a lot. The only thing he's asking is Dean to be mindful. Breakfast would only have been complete if Ruby could stay. Sam settles for asking how Dean's nerves were sitting with the opportunity and time just between them. There are butterflies in his stomach. This day has been a long time coming that he is still not sure if it isn't part of a dream. (Fortunately, sometimes there's the risk of less danger sticking together.)
He knows he is important to her the same way she is to him. No one that isn't Dean has ever stuck so close to him. Her desire to be close to him is in fact her charm.
Then the hands over her dress part will consequently wait for the later part of the evening where he can appreciate the dress with all his senses. He gets everything he needs to see in place of actual sight from her emphasis of words, thank you. The patter of his heart is mostly steady with flip-flopping every so often. He wonders if she's listening with the momentary silence between them and bridges that gap by focusing his senses on her signals. For a breath she takes when she neither has to breath or a shift in her stand while his hands rest on her, things like that. "We're talking about the same person, right? He wears his nerves more than the two of us." She's right to suggest it's not about Dean even though Sam cares enough to mention him. It's no small part due to her fingers touching his skin, but he sighs with relief to have the tie just right. "Much better." She should find that he is always comfortable in her presence. In awe of her beauty today of all days will be another story that she might have to nudge him from. None of her reaction helps with staying cool. There's a shiver down his spine when she presses close to him and sheds breath on his skin. "You're... You're not helping at all." He means they shouldn't being doing this, not the other way around. But his hands grip her shoulders firmer in reaction.

She probably won't actually see Cas until it's nearly time for the wedding. She'd left Ruby to go get Sam then slipped out to the yard to make sure everything is ready. She grabs a flute of champagne and starts looking for Cas, lighting up with a smile when she sees him in his suit.
no subject
his fashion sensefinding a tux, but thankfully it was pretty start forward. There were measurements taken and a fitting for the men followed by a small inspection the day of. All he was told to do is stand there and comb his hair a certain way when they started to get ready for the ceremony. Fortunately for everyone, today was one of his more angelic days so a shower wasn't necessary. The blemishes of his host body only made him look more human.Would anybody be surprised to find him standing like a wallflower outside? Lucy's the first one to call his attention since he was told to wait there and he turns to her, instantaneously less idle with her company. "Your dress is very blue," he notes; what is to be a compliment. It does not go unnoticed that her dress is the same color as his bowtie.
no subject
Lucy certainly isn't surprised to find him standing along outside. She's also known him long enough to know that he's complimenting her. "Thank you. A little birdie told me that you were wearing a blue tie so I had something to work with when shopping." She plans up and presses a very light kiss to his lips. "You look hot, Cassie."
no subject
He had some help. Lucy's help is just more preferred than a stranger with a measuring tape. The hair combed properly and the gel felt weirder than the attire itself. He is willing to do what is needed for a friend though. Yes, and mentally constipated works the same as a descriptor for an angelic aura. Switching to and from takes its toll. Lucy's ability to tell is her super power.
To be fair, Cas was waiting for her. Other than their roles to stand beside the bride and groom respectively, he has it on good authority that the rest of the time they can spend together. His compliments have improved, probably. "I don't follow how a little birdie told you I was wearing blue." Oh, Cas. Think a little bit harder on the planning that went into the wedding. The kiss makes him think a little less in fact and sweeps her into her arms to turn that light kiss into a slightly longer one.
Cas can count the number of compliments he's received from Lucy and it's exactly the 182th time she's told him he looks hot. He is even more of a fan to hear the words.
no subject
She's touched that he's waiting for her. He's right. Once the ceremony is over (and before it starts), it's a date. Lucy likes his compliments, but they have improved a bit over time. Lucy grins, head tilted back. "Mmmm, I don't know. A smart birdie with lots of plans." Lucy appreciates the way Castiel thinks and likes hearing about it, she also likes it very much when he doesn't think too much. When he sweeps her into his arms, her hands go to the back of his neck and she goes up on her tiptoes, leaning into him to provide balance.
She wasn't aware he was keeping count. She'll have to step up her compliment game give it some variety.
no subject
Caring is not a superpower; it is, however, an above average human trait.
Human compliments have seemed to make a lot more sense during his transitional days. The ceremony hasn't started yet so right this second is part of the date, yes. That's one more thing he's picking up on as they speak. "It seems this little birdie is going to have to tell me some of the plans." The height difference between them is sometimes awkward but he hunches to make up for the little bit Lucy can't reach to. Her hands are at the back of his neck and it seems impossible not to comb his hand through her hair.
Keeping count or old enough to remember everything of import. The same compliment over and over to him means a kind of truth that is sweeter than variety.
no subject
He's certainly gotten better at them. The fact that sometimes they make more sense to Cas might be part of that. It's good that he's learning to pick up on things like that. Lucy laughs a little at that. "In a little while, I'll direct you to your place. When Sam shows up, it's time to start. He and Ruby are talking now. I told her he'd have to be blindfolded if she wanted to see him. They both agreed." The four inch heels are Lucy's way of making up for her tiny five-foot frame, but there is still a bit of a height difference between them. She nips at his bottom lip and tilts her head into his hand a bit.
Variety isn't Lucy's strongest point, but she is good at repeating a truth over and over again.

Consistency is one of her other attractive qualities.

Her sense of fashion is pretty decent, but she does worry over her outfit, realizing that she wears a lot of black and white, neither ideal for a wedding. Allison texts Jack that she's on her way because she doesn't want to walk in alone. She's relieved and relaxes for the first time when she pulls up in her car to see Jack waiting for her. A smile bursts over her face. Yes, it's because she's grateful to see a friendly face, but also, Jack looks very good in a suit.
no subject
He's in much the same boat. His wardrobe is a majority of white tees, cheap brown suits, and plaid. He overheard the person that said trench coats are banned too. That means everything he owns is out. He learns a tux is the most appropriate thing and decides blue is best. No tie. Hair combed the same way Castiel had it. Jack responds instantaneously to that text, telling her where he will be waiting. He smiles with his eyes and lips before her smile is even in his sights, rounds the car to open her door. He may have seen it in a movie. "You're just in time. There's a little time to show you around before things start." He wasn't sure what he was expecting her to show up in, but Allison looks great in a suit too. He stares a little too intently at her at eye level to not be distracted by her legs.
no subject
That would actually be a relief to Allison. The suit looks very good on him. She relaxes a little seeing that smile. Heer smile grows even wider when he opens the car door for her. "What a gentleman," she compliments him as she gets out of the car. "I think the closest I've been to a bunker is a basement." The intent stare makes her check over hr shoulder and around a bit. "Did I---is there something wrong?" she wonders aloud.
no subject
If she had arrived at any other time then Jack might have come up with the idea to invite her to a movie first. Either way, the wedding was happening. She was new to Itinere so he thought this way she would be able to relax more than if it were the two of them right away. Jack will learn what works and what doesn't sooner or later.
His eyes briefly turn downward when she considers him a gentleman, that smile grows. "You look good." He repeats that under his breath too. His shoulders are a little tense opposite of her demeanor but only to remain gentlemanly. "I'm pretty sure the bunker is like a whole house. Just underground." His face turns a little red when she asks what's wrong. "I'm...I'm sorry. You didn't do anything wrong. I-- Should we go?"
no subject
She blushes a little, but her smile grows, dimples shining. "That's much less exciting than I imagined then. I've been in loads of houses," she jokes. Confusion marks her expression when he gets red and apologizes. She reaches out to start to put her hand on his flushed cheek before she hesitates, deciding it's too intimate for whatever they are right now. Instead, she slides her arm through his. "Yes, please. Show me this whole house underground."
no subject
The movie date is stuck to the back of his head so it might still happen.
The dimples are one of her most attractive features, Jack thinks. Her joke is funny and Jack beams with a wide smile. "You will have to tell me if there is any difference when you see it." He should ask for permission first but his attention moves to her arm through his. His rosy color is not fading any time soon. It seems like a good idea to do what she asks and he leads her to the bunker.
Outside and in, he warns her to watch her step as the descent is in some places uneven. The first room inside is the War Room.
no subject
Her dimples aren't something she thinks much about, but she'll be pleased to know he likes them. It means she's smiling at least. They're a pair of smiling goofs, but what exactly is he asking permission for? She'll tell him if he's overstepping. "I'll make sure to point them out as we go," she assures him.
She's not sure what she expected for a bunker entrance, but an art deco style staircase going down wasn't it. Her attention quickly turns to the table with the map of Itinere on it. She looks to him as they approach it. "Dining room?" It's odd and she can't really place what it's function might be.
no subject
Had anybody else been watching this that very moment, they're smiling might be too much to look at. Asking for permission to show her the bunker. That's all but gone forgotten though. Jack looks forward to the differences she will point out and gives her an enthusiastic nod before they go.
It's home as far as he's concerned. It's his first time giving a tour so if Allison has questions about certain things, it helps direct him where to focus on. His lip quirks because the map is a good story to tell. "Sam and Dean call it the War Room. We plan out every...trip here. The dining room is in the kitchen, sometimes the library." He can see her working out what the table might be. "There used to be a map of the world on it. Now, it's a map of Itinere as we know it."
He allows her to direct the tour
