First Date post Soulless
A host of mixed emotions had been warring inside her since Sam's invitation to go out. Of course, Ruby was happy to have Sam back. It was the only thing she'd wanted and worked for since he'd jumped into the pit, but everything he'd done to her without a soul, everything he'd put her through didn't disappear just because he was back. Because of Sam, Ruby had opened herself up and grown a heart only to have someone who looked very much like the person she'd fallen in love with stomp all over it.
The foreign movie at the drive-in had earned Sam points, and yes, she can admit that she was keeping score right now. It was a very Sam thing to make their first date. Right now, she's alone in the Impala. Sam is getting food. She watches him talk to the cashier as she zips off her boots and leans over the seat to place them in the backseat floorboard. She grabs the blanket on the backseat as well then tucks her socked feet beneath and pulls the blanket over her legs. Sam is still talking to the cashier. She can't see Sam's face, but she can see the cashier's face, and the pretty brunette (who looks a little like one of Soulless's sketchy women) is laughing, smiling up at Sam like he's on the menu. Insecurity and anger bubble inside of Ruby and it's probably a good thing she took her boots off; it makes her hesitate to stalk over there and punch the cashier. Without her even realizing it, her eyes have gone black and if Sam doesn't come back soon, she might go punch a bitch barefoot or not.

The date had started like none they've had before. Actually, Sam realized they had never been on a real date-- it both somehow ended up at dinners or under the stars when accommodations were sparse. Not only did he think he would try the drive-in when he saw the foreign movie he wanted to see advertised in the paper, he would buy Ruby flowers. The food in addition to that seemed great at the time too. However, he second guessed himself at the counter with what might be up to Ruby's tastes. The cashier was being helpful, making suggestions, occasionally batting her eyes at him which he did his best to pretend he didn't see. The sooner he could get back to Ruby the better.
She doesn't have to wait much longer though as he orders one of everything. He's not trying to earn so many points with her but some would certainly help. He catches her black eyes when he comes back to the impala and calmly smiles into the window. "Sorry, it took so long. I wasn't sure what to get so I got a small order of everything." From his heartbeat to his forehead, it's obvious that he's nervous and hopeful to start this date well.

In all honesty, Ruby hadn't realized they'd never really gone on a proper date. Life had been so busy, and Ruby never expected Sam to date her, a demon. Whether Ruby realized it or not, she was waiting for Sam to move on because he wanted something or someone else. Because of her personal loathing for demons, her status as a demon, and her previous relationship experience, Ruby didn't feel like she was worth dating. She was definitely worth having sex with though. The Italian movie was a great idea, and the flowers had been a wonderful surprise. No one had ever given Ruby flowers before; she'd told Sam as much. The flowers were on the dash now. Once the date is over, she'll keep them in water as long as she can then press at least one flower in her journal. The petals will get put in a jar for spell components. The food is a great idea. He's not wrong there; it's not Sam's fault that the cashier was making eyes at him. He handled it exactly the way he should have.
When Sam returns, she takes the box with all the food in it so that he can get in the car while she sets the box between them on the seat. "I'm sure the pretty brunette up there was really helpful. Did she give you her number with the order too?" Ruby snaps. Her voice sounds more upset than angry. Honestly, it's not Sam's fault and when she takes a moment to listen to Sam's heartbeat and really look at the expression on his face, it forces her to take a step back. She takes a deep breath then bites her lip. "That was...bitchy of me. She--you--"she pauses again and shakes her head. "When you didn't have a soul, you seemed to prefer brunettes." She closes her eyes, trying not to see the women Sam ended up with when he managed to escape her watchful eye.

Neither had Sam until he looked back at it. It wasn't at all because she was a demon since he chose he wanted her to stick around; it was always because the end of the world seemed to be looming and a piece of him couldn't let go of what happened to Jessica until they got "Yellow Eyes." That's done and over with now. He never got to share his thoughts with Ruby before he jumped into the pit but he had been analyzing how life would look with her going forward. Stepping back again, this date was a start to talking to her again. Not even the cashier could break his intentions for a decent night.
Sam gives her an appreciative look for taking the box off his hands and gets in the car. He barely has a second to get his legs comfortably in front of him before she snaps at him. The first thing he tries not to do is get defensive as he knows that there is a reason for everything. He watches her take the moment she needs to sort herself out, at the same time not looking at her with any blame. "Ruby, listen to me, I wouldn't do that in my state." He looks down briefly, towards his heart where he believes his soul must be too. "You're still upset, and we should talk about it. I told the cashier that she might have better luck with the next guy." Notice how he didn't use her name even though he definitely made a note to use it in the conversation when he turned her down.

He may not have gotten the chance to share his thoughts and feelings with Ruby, but she does still have that ring. It's currently on a long chain tucked into her shirt. While Sam had been gone, even when the soulless version of him had been walking around, she'd worn the ring on her left ring finger. It hadn't seemed right once Sam was back. Eventually, she plans on giving him back the ring so he can ask (if he still wants to) when he's not jumping into a pit. Right now, she's uncertain if they have a future together, much less what it would look like. She desperately wants to start talking to him again, to have a decent night. She wants their relationship to return to the point in which he might buy a ring and she might say yes. Unfortunately, she's not there right now.
Ruby doesn't really mean to lash out. She's going through a lot of emotions and she's more of a hot mess than usual. When he speaks so emphatically, she opens her eyes, green once again, in time to see him glance down at his chest. She presses her lips together as she listens to him. "I know. I know that, but there's this part of me that doesn't and it's just...screaming." She puts her head back against the headrest and tears fill her eyes as she blinks them back. Human bodies were stupid; at least that's what she told herself.

Survival mode is no way to live.
He never had the chance to properly propose to her. Should she give it back, he would likely feel some rejection, but with time he might come to the conclusion that a new ring is needed. The current ring might remind them both of too much tragedy.
He considers that the movie might have not been the right choice for a first date, but he can't bring himself to make her feel worse by suggesting they go.
He gravitated closer to her but not so close to suffocate her space. His hand rests on her shoulder. "The worst thing you can do is hold back how you're feeling." Scream if she wants to scream.

The movie is an amazing choice for the date. They're out in public so she doesn't have to wonder if he doesn't want to be seen with her in public (something that crossed her mind before but mattered less before soulless). They're also in a semi-private little bubble in the car so they can actually talk and emote without worrying about public perception (another thing Ruby never worried about before soulless, but she feels like she's been humiliated in public often enough at this point). So they may not pay a lot of attention to the movie, but this date isn't really about the movie. They can find the movie streaming somewhere another time.
Ruby keeps the food between them, but she turns toward Sam a bit, pulling one knee up to her chest and resting her chin on it. She stays close enough that he can keep his hand on her shoulder. She watches him for a moment, taking the time she needs so she's not snapping at him. She also needs the time to figure out how to vocalize her emotions. "I think that's the biggest problem. I'm not mad at you--I am but not for what...he did--I'm pissed at you for deciding the world was worth more than us and jumping into the pit and yes, I also know all the reasons you did it and I know you wouldn't be you if you hadn't. I'm still pissed at you over it, but that's--I can deal with that because I know you wouldn't be you otherwise. I don't want to scream at you. I don't want to fight with you. You're...my nerd and that's never been more apparent than right now. It's all the things he did and all the things I did because of him that--" she reaches out and puts her hand on his shoulder over his heart where he might notice he has a new scar. "I stabbed you--him. I was angry and so upset and I just wanted to stop you from--from doing things that neither you nor I could live with. It's in the one place on the upper body that there isn't anything critical, but...we spent the night in the motel room fighting and I stitched you up and--" she stops, brow furrowing, eyes looking down. "I slept with him. You--did you--I don't know if you knew that. More than once, but not all the time."

Sam doesn't turn away from her. He continues to watch her closely, allowing her to know he's with her, as her body languages closes in on itself. Of course he couldn't know how much she was holding on to but he listened closely as well. He could only address one thing at a time so he started at beginning.
"You're mad at me because I jumped into the pit..." That might also explain why she stabbed him later on and he has the scar to show for it. On some level, he understands Ruby did it out of confusion and passion. "You got my ring, though. Did you get my note?" The one that read 'My heart is yours' in his best attempt at less chicken scratch. "I take responsibility for everything I did without a soul, even though I remember only bits and pieces of it, and I can't blame you for keeping me in line. You know me. Do you trust that I would understand you too? Do you think I would blame you for a scar? I have to take responsibility for causing you to do that."
no subject
Sorry she dumped all of that on him. Maybe she should have parceled it out a little more, but once she'd started talking about it, she couldn't stop. She pulls it out of her shirt and lets the chain it's on rest against her breasts over her shirt. "Dean gave it to me a few weeks later. I wore it on my left ring finger while you were gone, but once you were you again...if I were going to keep wearing it on my hand it needed to be because you put it there." She stops and listens to him, nodding a little as she does. "Everything I did, I knew you might not like, but I did it because I was trying to keep him from doing things you and I couldn't live with. And--I missed you. Some nights I thought he was all I was ever going to get of you. It was never enough."
no subject
They haven't defined what they are, but they are close enough that she can spill anything she like. The ring in particular signifies a future where he would like their relationship to be defined. His attention shifts to the ring than nack to her, but if she intends for him to take it right away, he makes no movement to. "You should keep it... For the time being. I don't to take it from you here." Just how would he propose now? There was a plan before it shifted to jumping into the put for the betterment of the world. They both need time. "I'm sorry you experienced all that and I am responsible for all of it, if not some."
no subject
Ruby shakes her head and picks up the food, scooting closer to him and holding it on her lap. She picks up a fry and pops it in her mouth, chewing before she responds. "Thank you. I didn't tell you to get an apology. I need you to know why--why I'm not like---jumping your bones," she tells him, gesturing to all of him. "I definitely still want to but human emotions are stupid."
no subject
If he had remembered why she removed it from her finger, or that she wore it in the first place, he would be more hard on himself with how things played out. He couldn't take the ring from her even if she had handed it to him. There's an understanding between them that comes with her tucking the ring back into her shirt. Neither of them need the pressure of returning to normal before figuring things out.
Sam watches Ruby move closer to his side and instinctively spreads his legs apart so his hip touches hers. Rather than dig into his plate, his eyes stay focused on her with his fork poking at his plate. She doesn't specifically say they need to slow down their intimate life, but placing some of the pieces together, he understands that might be best while they find themselves. "You still deserve to hear me say how sorry I am." The look in eyes should give away just how much he adores that she can be honest with him, from jumping his bones to admitting emotions are stupid in the same breath. He sighs only mildly. "I think that's why we should continue to talk about it." Not now per se, but going forward. "Your feelings aren't stupid." Never.
no subject
She can't help but smile slightly at the way he lets his hip touch hers. She sighs softly and scoots a bit closer, pulling one bare foot up into the seat so that her knee rests atop his leg. She rests her head on his shoulder. She's not putting a timeline on sex; she just wants to take things a little more slowly. "You should eat. You put on lots of muscle when you were souless and I like it so you have to eat to keep it," she tells him with a bit of a pout. When he hadn't had a soul, Sam had learned firsthand why Ruby knits like she's providing blankets for the whole world and devours smutty romance novels. 24 waking hours is a lot of time to fill. Soulless had chosen to fill his hours with working out (and other things Ruby hadn't approved of and had tried to stop at every turn).

The last thing either of them need right now is to break up rather than take the time to mend. Would they ever recover from more space? He wouldn't think so.
Honestly, it is nothing new that Ruby positions herself over or against him in that manner. It is, of course, a first when they're in public. It is late and he notes no one in the diner seems to pay any mind anyhow so he can let himself enjoy her close rather than worry about others. It is one more clue that he hadn't messed up so badly that she didn't want any physicality with him anymore. "Not going to lie; it feels a little foreign to have extra muscle. I won't argue about the importance food though." They can't talk while he eats but starts with the portion Ruby is less likely to steal from. Things may have changed but one thing that will never was his mindfulness that she can eat from his plate too. She said he should eat to keep his muscle and another part of him also has the idea that he could work out to keep his muscle too. That way, he got used to it too.
First Date post Soulless (Drive in Movie)
The interior of the Impala is dark enough and the public is reasonably involved in the movie that Ruby doesn't think twice about snuggling up to him, at least not for that reason. He definitely hasn't messed up that badly. Now, if he'd had his soul when he'd done all of those things...he wouldn't be Sam and Ruby wouldn't have fallen in love with him in the first place. "I guess I didn't notice it for a while because for me it happened gradually. And I was mad at you all the time." She notices that he leaves the foods she likes alone for the most part. It makes her smile a little because it's one more way that he's different from soulless. She picks at the fries and the M&M's while she turns her attention to the movie. Working out is a good idea. Ruby might even run with him; she'll definitely watch Sam do pull-ups.
Re: First Date post Soulless (Drive in Movie)
He's certainly trying to make it so they can recover from it. It does not escape him how much grace on her part it took to accept his offer to go out to a drive in movie.
There's enough light from the sources around them that Sam can still see Ruby's full figure snuggle next to him. In response, his arm finds a way around her waist and his hand rests on her leg. The hints she is giving him paint that story; he breathes in easier knowing that she is comfortable trusting him. They're still talking about his muscles? He raises his eyebrow because it sounds like there's more to it. "That's not all that changed, I guess." Some things he is already aware of. Healthy habits breed healthy habits and he can't shake some of the new ones imprinted on his subconscious. "I did a lot of stupid things?" he asks, digging more. His attention eventually shifts to the movie. It's later in the film when the music slows and a supporting character professes his love for the lead that his focus makes its way back to Ruby. The language might as well be English because he understands the deeper meaning without the subtitles.
So it’s not gonna be easy. It’s gonna be really hard. We’re gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, you and me, every day., come the words from the screen.
His hand moves from her leg to the top of her head to plant a soft kiss amongst her golden hairs.
Re: First Date post Soulless (Drive in Movie)
She relaxes against him when he wraps his arm around her and snuggles a little bit closer. Eventually, once they finish eating, she puts the food on the passenger side of the dash and puts her legs over Sam's leg, spreading the blanket over them both. "I'm not mad at you all the time anymore. I missed you. I missed us." No, they really aren't talking about muscles anymore.
It's a good movie and it appeals to the squishy part of Ruby. It's exactly what she needed for their first date. When he kisses the top of her head, Ruby looks up st him, watching him for a moment as if she's looking for something. She finds it in the way he looks at her and the softness of his expression and because of that look, she moves in a little closer and kisses him, feather-light and hesitant.
Re: First Date post Soulless (Drive in Movie)
There is no denying that the two of them are messy and Ruby has a passionate side. Sam plants another kiss to the top of her head before locking eye contact with her. Whatever she's looking for, his eyes tell a story by making it hard to decipher a color between blue or green and give away a fond look for their time together. He doesn't feel he has to say anything at all. He leans in to meet her lips, more confidently in his response, but soft to match hers. The kiss feels like starting over with a hello again, new in that it's been a long time.
Re: First Date post Soulless (Drive in Movie)
The confidence is good. It tells Ruby that Sam is certain about this. She relaxes into the kiss, letting go of some of her insecurities. She moves closer, sliding into Sam's lap, her hands going to his shoulders then up into his hair for a moment before she breaks the kiss. She rests her forehead against his shoulder. She bites her bottom lip and looks up at him, eyes gone black. "We should--watch the movie." Though she doesn't sound terribly confident about that.
There had been a great deal more kissing during the movie despite their best intentions to watch the movie. Once the movie is over, neither one of them are anxious to go back to the hotel. Sam will be in a room with Dean and Ruby will be in the back of her car. Instead, they opt to drive until they find a place to pull the Impala off the road. Ruby grabs the blanket she's got up front and has Sam grab the one from the trunk. There's a protected clearing not too far off the road that makes the perfect spot for star gazing once they've put one blanket on the ground and the other over them.
Re: First Date post Soulless (Drive in Movie)
His lips pull into a line as her request throws a wrench right into the nature of his being. Can he promise her that? Yes. But it won't be easy to do. Naturally, Sam searches where he can compromise before opening his mouth.
"I'll meet you halfway if you promise that we can do this again after you're not mad anymore." Go on a date.
He lingers close to her face when they break from the kiss and catches the hint of lavender and sulphur from her hair. Eventually, he moves to relax with his back against the seat to respect her hint to pause. His hand comes up to her head and gently combs her hairs back in place. Her black eyes didn't startle him despite going so long without seeing them. In fact, he smiled softly with a nod in response. "We can do that." For a while, he is able to watch the movie with her in silence. It is a terribly romantic movie that brings up sparks every so often though.
It had been one of them at different intervals to initiate more kissing. Sam had just made sure Ruby gave the okay when he leaned in. Looking back on it, the movie had felt like it had played in the blink of an eye. Surely Dean would be able to piece together that they needed more time. It was comfortable with Ruby and keeping the night going. He remembered a trucker stop wasn't too far from the interstate. He had gotten the blanket as Ruby asked, pushing the trunk closed to set eyes on her picking her preferred spot on the ground. He teasingly drops his blanket over Ruby's head like a robe after she stands from fixing the picnic blanket. This was a good idea for both of them.
He still had that fond look in his eyes from when the movie had mentioned forever.
Re: First Date post Soulless (Drive in Movie)
Ruby doesn't want to hit pause on the making out, but it's all very overwhelming and she needs a minute. Needing that minute doesn't keep her from sliding all the way into Sam's lap. Ruby is reasonably proud of herself for not straddling Sam during the makeout. It was an act of willpower. The fact that she actually liked the movie helped with her willpower. It was a great choice for their first date and Ruby is glad they're in the Impala because she doesn't feel bad about sitting in Sam's lap and making out with him during the movie. It was a good thing that Sam initiated the kissing sometimes; she still needs to know that Sam wants her. She also needs to see that very Sam gesture making certain that Ruby consents to the kissing with a soft nod or pulling him closer.
Ruby is just trying to pick a patch of ground that's flat and invisible from the road. When he drops the blanket over her head, she lets it settle down around her shoulders, holding it together with one hand like a cape. She gives him a devilish grin. "You've given away all of your bargaining chips. Now, what are you going to give me in return for letting you use some of my blanket."
Re: First Date post Soulless (Drive in Movie)
This time her request does not cause him to hesitate. "Come out to the middle of nowhere and talk?" Of course he knows what she really means. If she could say it in greater detail than both her and him can work together to mend the broken pieces.
Neither of them want to hit pause. It is clear that Ruby has been traumatized by his soulless persona and a minute in exchange for a future with her is nothing. He can tell somewhat by her demeanor that the movie should be a repeated occurrence. His whole intention from the start was to make things go back to where they were when they first met but with a touch more romance.
It's impossible not to give away his anxiousness in being seated next to her. She could read a lot more in his eyes if she looked closely enough. The blanket falls around her shoulders and Sam adores the look accompanied by her usual manner. "What do you want? Though if I am being honest, I didn't intend on keeping any of my chips left on the table tonight." He tugs a corner of the blanket, a low chuckle.
Re: First Date post Soulless (Drive in Movie)
Soulless was difficult for Ruby and he did traumatize her. She will recover with his help. They will recover and yes, the movie should be a repeated occurrence. More romance, please. Ruby has never been romanced in her entire existence and she doesn't even know she wants more romance. She's also okay with a trip to the coffee shop, the bookstore, or a walk. Ruby would be okay with getting their own room and having a movie night.
He doesn't have to be anxious with her. It's easy to fall into her usual manner after the evening they've had. She considers Sam's question a little longer than really necessary before she answers. Her brow furrows and she moves closer to him. She lets go of the blanket and puts one hand over his heart, his anti-possession tattoo stinging just a bit even through his shirt. "This. You." She takes an entirely unnecessary breath, "Us."
Re: First Date post Soulless (Drive in Movie)
There's an answer he can work with. He doesn't take his eyes off of her when he answers. "I won't spoil the surprise, but I have a few places in mind already." The fabric store is just one of them. Earlier in the day, he saw that she was running low on yarn. The coffee shop, the bookstore, and a walk are on the list too. Getting on bicycles might be a thing he imagines them doing at some point. Of course she can make suggestions too. His ears are open.
Anxious might have been the wrong word. Longing, or eager might be a better word. It's easy to be so deeply in love with her and look forward to what's next. He's used to her thoughtfulness by now. She can take all the time she needs to answer and he would never dream of rushing her in any way. Very easily there is a lot of trauma between them. He understands on some level the effort she has to put into every decision to be close to him, every decision to answer his efforts with her own. The blanket falls off her shoulders before his eyes but he barely registers that. What he does follow is her hand over the cloth covering his tattoo. Eventually, his hand folds over hers to lessen the sting she must be burdening herself with to be close. The way he holds her hand is as if to tell her to be careful. She needn't hurt herself to get her point across.
"You have me."
Sex would be out of character for him when Ruby is not there yet. But the rest of the night is spent stargazing between the sky and each other. Eventually, Sam's first to drift off to sleep due to the simple fact his mind needs rest. The last thing he remembers is Ruby close to his heart.
The last thing he expects to wake up to is the disgruntled and unclear sounds of a large animal. His eyes snap open, sun blurring his vision, before he recognizes it's neither animal nor Ruby.
Standing by the driver's side door of the impala, he can roughly make out the form of Dean.
First Date post Soulless (Drive in Movie)
Longing and eager are better looks on him than anxious. Ruby has the same sort of longing look. That longing is threaded through her entire body. The way he holds her hand makes her melt a little. There's so much about Sam being Sam that she missed.
In response to his 'you have me', Ruby moves to straddle him, letting the blanket fall behind her as she presses a kiss to his mouth, hands tangling in his hair.
Sex would have been out of character for him because she isn't quite there yet, not with the way Soulless treated her, but Ruby is entirely on board with some very heavy making out. At some point, their shirts end up somewhere in the grass. When they take a break from the intense making out, Ruby grabs Sam's button-down plaid shirt and wraps it around her without doing up the buttons so that she can snuggle up to Sam and star gaze. She points out some of the constellations that she's certain he knows and tells him stories about the stars from different ages and societies.
When Sam does fall asleep, Ruby spends some time watching him, still wrapped up in his shirt before she finally closes her own eyes and falls asleep from sheer emotional exhaustion. When Ruby allows herself to relax enough to actually fall asleep, she sleeps hard so she doesn't wake up the assumed bear grumbles into the clearing.
Dean hadn't minded Sam taking the Impala when he'd thought that his baby would be back within four hours or so. He'd actually fallen asleep in front of the TV watching a horror movie and hadn't woken up until morning (apparently he'd needed the sleep). In his initial morning stupor prior to coffee, he'd assumed that Sam and Ruby had gotten a room in the same motel. It was only after he'd had a cup of crappy coffee from the maker in the room that he stepped outside in a quest for good coffee and saw the Impala was still gone. Immediately he'd opened the tracking app on his phone that he'd learned to use during the time Sam was soulless. He'd hotwired a truck he'd seen near the back of the motel and followed the tracker to a clearing. He saw the Impala pulled off the road before he'd seen Sam waking up in the middle of the field shirtless. It was pretty obvious to Dean what had happened. He stalks toward Sam. "You don't text. You don't call. You just keep my baby out past her curfew." He scowls a little, looking at sleeping Ruby and the blanket the demon is tangled up in. "You lose your wallet? I'm pretty sure there were rooms at the motel."
Re: First Date post Soulless (Drive in Movie)
It's nothing short of a beautiful smile on her. He could watch her for hours just like that if she allowed. There's gaps in his memory but in their place he would fill them in with the time they spent together. Holding her hand was a brief moment, but he drove to their designation with that lingering in his mind.
He understands that she may not be there yet. Rather than it leading to sex, Sam treats her to one hickey on her collarbone sometime during making out and appreciating her perfume laden skin. He almost growls from his throat. Everything but their pants are shed. His smart watch beeps warning him his heart rate is too fast at one point. The break from making out comes just as the watch starts to go off incessantly. He watches her throw over his button-down appreciatively. The difference between top naked Ruby and her wearing his clothing on scale never would register as anything. She was gorgeous in his eyes.
At the same time Ruby decides to curl up next to him, she will find that even in his slumber Sam spoons closer to her, hand extending out to slide under and cushion her head. Sam pulls away slowly from Ruby to sit up to face what he thought was a bear.
Sam had forgotten to leave Dean a voicemail so that fell on him. But by now Dean should know that Sam and Ruby are likely to be out late sometimes. They're adults, not babies. He scrubs his hands over his face to indicate how it's too early to be dealing with grievances. "Dean, can we not do this so early? What time is it?" He looks around them. His wallet isn't nearby and must be in the Impala. "No motel room would work for stargazing. Your car is fine. I parked it far from the road so no one would drive close to it."
Re: First Date post Soulless (Drive in Movie)
The way Sam had cuddled up to her had been part of the reason she was sleeping so hard.
Yes, adults, but Dean still worries about Sam, especially after Soulless. Ruby might have gotten the brunt of his behavior, but Dean was a little traumatized as well. "8:30," Dean tells Sam. He had waited a little while after he'd woken up. A part of Dean had just needed to see that Sam was safe and still Sam. Stargazing is definitely a geek activity so Sam passes the test. He sighs, grumbling a little then glances over to the blankets and Ruby who is just beginning to stir. "Okay. Wake up sleeping beauty, grab some pie. Yes. Breakfast pie and some good coffee. I'll see you two in an hour or so." He starts toward the truck, planning on parking it back where he found it. He stops and looks back at Sam. "Next time you decide to do the tango under the stars, just text me."

In that case, the hickeys are on full display with dark patches of color to replace his once flawless skin. He can't bring himself to apologize for forgetting to add a note.
Ruby often told him that she liked his body heat. They had slept peacefully together.
As if Dean hadn't done the same thing a time or ten. He would have called eventually. He can't really blame Dean, but at the same time he wished Dean hadn't come looking until later (lunch at least). What did Dean expect him to be doing? As much as he would like to know what all his soulless counterpart did, to own up to it all, part of him is better off not knowing what Dean was imagining. Stargazing is a normal activity for both of them (less romantic though). It had tickled Ruby as a date.
"No. We'll be back after lunch," he says after a moment of deliberation. "Got it. Next time."
Re: First Date post Soulless (Drive in Movie)
Ruby curls up to his body heat like a cat in the sun. Since her body is technically dead, she's almost always cold. She hasn't slept that good since before he jumped into the pit.
Dean has done exactly the same thing a time or ten, though Dean usually sneaks back into the motel room in the middle of the night. Paying for sex with a very questionable woman is one of the things he thinks Sam might be doing; however, he's more afraid of Sam not acting like or being Sam than anything. It had tickled Ruby as a date because it had been such a very Sam thing to do.
Dean scowls a little when Sam pushes back and says they'll return after lunch, but he grunts and nods. "Fine. Afternoon pie," he says as he gets in the trunk and drives away.
Ruby sits up just in time to see Dean get in the truck and drive away. She runs a hand through her (not) sex tangled hair, trying to tame it a little. She stretches and watches Sam walk back to her, thoroughly appreciating the view. "Uh oh. Dad find us? Are we grounded?" she jokes when he's within hearing distance.
Re: First Date post Soulless (Drive in Movie)
True. Dean might have been better at sneaking in and out than Sam; maybe it was due to experience or the fact Sam wasn't hiding anything.
Ruby curling up to his body only further encouraged a response; his hand at least snaked around her waist while he hoped it would go unnoticed.
No need to pay for sex. He had no desire to either. There was nothing to hide with Ruby. Every reason to tickle her imagination again.
Sam holds up his hand for scout's honor without managing to be sarcastic. He turns back to Ruby the minute Dean drives off. It says a lot about Dean trusting them to leave the Impala rather than tossing the keys to the truck. He takes it as a win but also can tell Dean might chew his ear off if it's not back by twelve.
Sam snorts softly at her wit. "Not yet, I think. Let's make use of the time we have left, what do you say?" He's not sure if Dean hears his answer but it isn't meant for him. "I could use breakfast," he announces. "There's still some cheese from last night..." he rejoins the space next to her and digs out the remaniance of the basket he prepared the day before.
Re: First Date post Soulless (Drive in Movie)
She'd taken note of that response and had been pleased by it. It wasn't for lack of wanting that Sam controlled himself.
At some point, she'll remind him that her imagination is very good.
Dean wants to get the truck back, especially if they're going to be at the motel for a few hours more. He's also trying to extend some trust to Sam, but he will lose it if they aren't back by noon.
Ruby gives him an amused look. "Hurry up and eat, Puppy. I've got other ideas about how to use the time we've got left," she winks at him.
Re: First Date post Soulless (Drive in Movie)
Never a lack of wanting.
He would be interested to see where her imagination would take them.
Sam will make good on his word but he is a little distracted by Ruby and his mini vacation. The impala will be back at 12:02 exactly.
Sam finds the cheese and casts an intrigued look. "Don't rush me, but don't keep me in the dark either."
