Mama Said Knock You Out | Late S13 or 14
The night before had been chaos. Ruby and Sam had gone up to the Roadhouse with Dean to socialize with some hunters in town. Dean has disappeared with Jo and one of the hunters no one knew very well had started flirting with Ruby. She'd responded in typical Ruby fashion, which seemed to only make the hunter more angry and more determined to prove something to Ruby (though she wasn't sure what). She had promised Sam that she wouldn't hit anyone that morning, but he'd made no such promise to her.
It had escalated to a bar fight. Everyone had been thrown out (though Ruby and Sam's ban was only for that night), which had suited Ruby just fine. There was something incredibly sexy about Sam being jealous and possessive.
Ruby lies next to Sam propped on one elbow. After a moment, she reaches out to lightly glide her fingertips along the bruise coloring Sam's cheekbone. When he opens his eyes, he'll find her grinning lazily.
"Morning, Slugger." That lazy grin turns a bit wicked as she watches him wake up.

Honestly, he surprised himself when he hit the hunter to defend Ruby's honor. He didn't like it when the hunter had flipped the script and called Ruby a bitch. The fight had landed him a bruise to the side of his face in the space between his nose and his ear on the left side. He had iced it with a can of beer after they got kicked out of the bar and got back to the motel.
He slept on Ruby's usual side of the bed that night to avoid sleeping on the sore side. As she stirs, he gravitates to Ruby. Opening his eyes, he gave a half smile back, flinching just a little at the stinging sensation in his cheek.
Please tell me last night was a dream isn't what leaves his lips even though the words comes to mind. "Sorry you had to see me like that."

And honestly, him calling Ruby a bitch had been nothing new to her. It was his handsyness that had bothered her. No one but Sam was allowed to grope her and keep all their fingers. If Sam hadn't hit him, there was a good chance that Ruby was going to.
"Oh, I don't know. It was kind of sexy seeing you go all neanderthal over me," she teases him as she snuggles up against him.

Not that he thinks it justifies his actions but it was better that he reacted first before she could. He didn't want the man touching her more than he already had and he could tell from Ruby's face that she was about to hex the man.
From his eyes only maybe she can tell he doesn't know what to make of that. "Is that what we're calling a compliment these days?" He does relax with her head against him, giving in to the little bit of temptation to brush his hand over the top of her head to shake the shampoo scent from the golden strands.

She sees the confusion in his eyes a the compliment and laughs. "It's teasing, but it is sexy when you get jealous and possessive," she pauses. "Sometimes."

Thankfully, the Winchester reputation among other hunters isn't something Sam is too focused on these days. Though the hunters that had approached her are the furthest from their social circle for him to have any real concerns.
Sometimes Sam needs that extra little bit of context to know where Ruby's head is at. He sits up, smoothing any hairs that may stick up with his hand before he motions her to sit up with him. "Sometimes? You think so?" In a way, he still recognizes that it wasn't the best way to react but Ruby's opinion holds a lot of weight on the matter too. He stops only to greet her with a kiss to say good morning.

At his gesture, Ruby sits up beside him, the sheet pulled up just high enough. "Occasionally, but it'd get really old, really fast if you couldn't trust me to take care of it," she warns him as she runs a hand through her own hair. She smiles beneath the kiss, wrapping one arm around his shoulder to properly kiss him. "Good morning, Neanderthal Boy," she teases.

It's a fair enough concern. Sometimes Sam forgets that he's seen her a little differently from the start and other hunters need time to come around, but not that she's one of a kind.
"Don't get me wrong. I trust you. You shouldn't have to give people like that the time of day. So anyway, what do you feel like now? The both of us are banned for another 12 hours. I think we could find someplace else today for a makeup date." He at least owes her that. Sometimes he doesn't know what he wants to do with his hands so muscle memory does it for him. One hand touches her face while the other pulls her close, just a scooch. Behind the good morning kiss is passion, but not a length to steal either of their breath. "If that's my new nickname, I think I will have to earn it a little more." He kisses her, both passionate and short, again.

"I know you do," she tells him, pressing a quick kiss to his shoulder. "Mmmm, maybe a stopover at the book shop then a picnic?" It will get them outside for a little while. "We can play it by ear after that." The kiss might not be enough to steal her breath, but it is enough to make her move closer, her hands moving of their own accord to his chest. "Tell me more. Right now, I'm thinking that the only thing I want to do is you," she flirts, leaning into the kiss. When it breaks this time, she nibbles at his bottom lip and moves into his lap, deepening the kiss.

True. Even Bela who they reunited with in recent years had only become a self serving demon. Honestly, if it wasn't for Ruby, he'd never see demons as worth the time to hear out sometimes.
He rolls his head around with the soft sensation of her kiss on his shoulder before delivering a less subtle, more roused glance. "Now you're speaking more of my language." Nothing ever bad happened from being outside with her. "Any requests on what to pack? We're low on food so might I suggest we stock up on some supplies after the book store." It is enough to make him lose his but her hands keep him engaged between one kiss and another to mend the one he breaks to come up for air. He doesn't have an answer for her right away if not pulling away isn't counted as one. His hands help guide her into a position in his lap that's comfortable for the two of them. "I could tell you that I'm in the mood to continue where we left off last night, but another part of me also wants to show you off a lot more so no one ever mistakes you for single again."

All that matters to him is time spent with her and the closeness. They've had so few chances to be together the last little while. He looks at her fondly with a chuckle at her request. "I think your list is missing one other thing." If it isn't clear what that thing is, his hands help fill in the blanks when he runs them over her sides to support her in his lap. However, he lets Ruby take charge. He lets it slip with the way he breathes or looks at her how much her weight against him arouses him. "Sounds like...a plan. Not in any rush to get out of here yet." He runs his hands through her hair unable not to do anything. His neck is very open with the v-neck he has on. Is it intentional? It's as intentional as the sound that comes from his throat.

Once they're both spent and satisfied, Ruby crawls out of bed, donning Sam's tee shirt again. She slips out of the room and then returns shortly with coffee for both of them. She takes a sip of her coffee before setting it on the nightstand. She leans over and presses a soft kiss to his shoulder. "Coffee, shower then bookshop, grocery and picnic?"

Sam is no stranger to Ruby giving him the best kind of wake up calls. He steals the soft sigh right from her lips into a thoughtful, pressing kiss. He can't deny that she has that effect on him. Since both of them have established they have nowhere else to be, Sam encourages her body to slide against him again. His hands know where to move on their own to get the best reactions out of her. At the same time, he draws back to give Ruby as much freedom to do as she pleases. The result leads him both getting wild in bed, a game of give and take.
His blue eyes follow her when she slides out of bed and watch her backside, unguilty, head to toe, leave the room. When she returns, he almost doesn't see the coffee at all until it comes up to her lips. He has that fond puppy dog look in his eyes. His nose catches a whiff of the coffee beans and lavender. "Yes," he answers. He wakes up a degree more as he accepts the coffee and sips it. "I haven't forgotten that I promised to let you pick my next book for me." He's not ready to set aside his coffee yet but the kiss to his naked shoulder encourages him to glance back to the open bathroom door. A shower would either cool them down or help them get the rest of the steam out of their system.

He really shouldn't feel guilty about that. She likes it when he watches her walk away. "Mmmm, yes. I've got a few in mind. I'll make a decision once I see their stock," she agrees. A shower might do both in time. Either way, they probably need one before they go out.
