"Who are you?"

"Who am I?"

She'd gotten the call in the middle of the night. It was one she'd anticipated for weeks months, years, but couldn't plan for. Now she's headed to a bus station in the middle of Sioux Falls and she hasn't been this nervous in over a century. She didn't want to keep him waiting at the bus station in the middle of the night even if the most dangerous thing in Sioux Falls he's likely to encounter is Bert, the incredibly friendly, homeless drunk that Ruby occasionally slips a mini bottle of whiskey and a coffee in exchange for keeping his eye out for anything weird in town. If she'd had time, she would have dressed up a little, but as it is, she'd thrown on jeans with her oversized (Sam's) tee shirt and her heeled boots. On the way over she'd added some of the red lipstick that Sam had always liked and an extra spritz of the lavender-cedar perfume she makes and wears. She parked the car outside the bus station and waited a moment before getting out to go inside, realizing that with everything going on, Sam might not feel comfortable getting in a car with her right away. She doesn't say anything as she walks inside, but stops several feet away from him, watching him. She saw him a few months ago so in reality, he hasn't changed that much. He's tall (but not yet as tall as he probably will get) and lanky, all limbs and floppy hair. Her heart aches just looking at him, but she stands back, giving him a chance to decide how he wants to handle this. From this moment on, Sam is directing the show.
